Hatred was easy. Feeling nothing but blackness, anger, destruction, those were the easy emotions. Frustration, disgust, all of those things could fester and lurk around in your heart. Yes, hatred was the easy part. All the other emotions were hard. That's why the only quadrant that Eridan had filled was kismesis. And, though he would never admit it, it wasn't a requited kismesis. Sollux was too annoyed to even attempt to deal with Eridan. So he avoided his feelings and avoided Eridan all together really. But fate had a very funny way of pushing them together.

"I have to do what with this imbecile?" Sollux groaned as Karkat explained the current predicament. "Look Captor I know Ampora isn't exactly your favorite troll to be around but I need the two of you to do me a favor." Karkat smirked. "Does it have to be us two? I mean Jegus KK I can't even be in the same room as the fish breathed asshole." Sollux sighed. "I know Sollux. But the situation just calls for this." Karkat explained shrugging. "What is this 'situation' anyways?" Sollux asked. "Well it requires someone with psionics and a sea dweller that's for sure. And Feferi is out with Equius trying to figure out how to make robots work underwater." Karkat mumbled. Sollux gave him a suspicious look but nodded agreeing to the arrangement.

"You must be fucking kidding me." Sollux grumbled. "Wwell Kar said that wwe had to be roommates for this." Eridan shrugged eyeing Sollux discreetly trying to spot weaknesses. "What exactly is this?" Sollux groaned. "You don't knoww?" Eridan laughed feeling superior. Sollux sighed. "No I do not know. Please enlighten me fish breath." He said with a smirk. "Fef lost her lusus." Eridan explain. "What that's all?" Sollux sighed again. "Wwell Fef is very distraught about this and she can't look for him right noww so she asked Kar to make us help." Eridan shrugged. "This is ridiculous." Sollux mumbled and sighed yet again. This couldn't go well, one of them would surely end up injured or dead by the end of the week. They even had to be roommates for this stupid 'mission'. Sollux had to stay at Eridan's hive and to Sollux this seemed to be the worst thing yet.

"Ampora I am going to kill you if you don't stop." Sollux threatened Eridan. "Cod Sol wwhy are you alwways so cranky?" Eridan said giving a disapproving look. "You're prancing about and shit and it's like one in the morning. You woke me up what are you even doing?!" Sollux smirked and pushed up his glasses to rub his eyes. "Oh no wonder you're such a sour fish. But then again you're always a sour stupid mustard blood." Eridan stuck out his tongue. "Ampora. You realize I am in absolutely no fucking mood to deal with your pointless shit right?" Sollux hissed slamming Eridan against the wall. Sollux was too tired to even attempt to be nice. Eridan stared at him in shock. "Howw dare you snap at me you low blooded fool!" Eridan shouted pushing Sollux's shoulders roughly. "Shut the hell up fish breath! Who the fuck could even put up with your stupid shit?!" Sollux shouted and stormed off. Eridan could hear a door slamming in the distance. "Go glub yourself Sol!" He shouted to no one.

"Wwhen is this stupid mission goin to be ovver anywways?" Eridan grumbled to himself. He was still pissed at Sollux for being such an asshole. He returned to his room and threw his scarf on the ground. "All I wwas tryin to do wwas get some air and wwalk around my owwn damn hive and that kelp sucking low blood has the audacity to try and confront me!" Eridan huffed. "Wwell he can go glub himself." He fell back onto his bed and stared at the ceiling. Eridan had an incredibly awful case of insomnia and it was making him unusually pissy. He was prone to snapping back more at Sollux and he kept wandering around in the middle of the night which consequently woke up Sollux and they kept getting into these heated fights.

Then, come morning when both of them had calmed down, they meant to apologize to each other but both of them were two stubborn to apologize so they just stayed pissed at each other. It was a perpetual cycle of anger that was only provoked moreso by Eridan's insomnia. Why couldn't he sleep anyways? He couldn't figure it out. And suddenly a strange idea dawned on him. "Sol sleep wwith me." Eridan said. Sollux stared at Eridan trying to figure out if what he had just heard was real or if he had just imagined it. Maybe it was just another voice in his head. Yeah it must have been. "Sol?" Eridan pouted. Oh no. Nope apparently this fish breathed overly arrogant hipster had actually just asked him to sleep with him. "You're kidding right?" Sollux asked starting to laugh. "No! I'm serious! Wwill you just try it!" Eridan frowned.

"And why the fuck should I?" Sollux smirked and crossed his arms across his chest. "Because I can't sleep." Eridan whined. "Wait what?" Sollux looked at him completely confused. "Wwill you sleep next to me? Maybe bein next to wwill somehoww make it easier to sleep." Eridan explained. "How does that even make fucking sense?" Sollux groaned. "Wwill you just do it!" Eridan shouted. "Why should I!" Sollux shouted back. "Come on Sol! It wouldn't even be that hard! You just havve to lay there!" Eridan pouted. "Jegus Ampora do you even realize the innuendo in that? Ugh whatever fine. I'll just fucking do it." Sollux groaned. "That's not so shitty of you Sol…Thanks I guess…" Eridan said almost smiling. "Whatever." Sollux smirked.

"Your fucking bed smells like you." Sollux smirked. "Wwell it is my bed so that does make sense doesn't it?" Eridan pointed out. "Yeah whatever you say fish breath." Sollux smirked. He sighed and laid on the bed. There were a pile of purple pillows separating the two of them. Of course Eridan had purple sheets and pillows the fucking arrogant bastard. Sollux smirked to himself. "Hey fish breath, you even breathe on me I'm going to fucking kill you, understand?" Sollux growled. "Ok Sol." Eridan said sleepily. He was exhausted and he just wanted to sleep and eventually he just found himself spacing out and falling asleep.

"Fish breath get off of me." Sollux groaned. Eridan had rolled over in his sleep and his hand was way too close to Sollux's bone bulge. "Damnit you stupid fucking fish breathed asshole do you even realize where you're touching!" Sollux shouted pushing Eridan's hand away forcefully. He pushed Eridan's hand away too harshly causing Eridan to smack himself in the face. Eridan jerked awake. "Ugggggh." He groaned grumpily and took a pillow and smacked Sollux in the face with it. "Hey!" Sollux shouted sitting up. He grabbed a pillow and slapped Eridan back in the face with it. Eridan glared at him. "I am so beyond sick of your fuckin shit Captor." Eridan hissed. "Fish breath?" Sollux said slightly taken aback.

Eridan was beyond exhausted and he had completely reached his limit. "I am so fed up wwith all of you! You're all a bunch of assholes you knoww that? Fuck you Sol." Eridan shouted beating Sollux with the pillow. Sollux started laughing. "You're laughfin? Of all fuckin times Sol you're laughfin?" Eridan shouted. "Calm down Ampora." Sollux said with a smirk. "No! Fuck you Sol!" Eridan shouted and he grabbed his wand and stabbed Sollux in the stomach. Sollux's eyes widened in surprise. "You stabbed me." He said in shock. "I-I oh Cod Sol I'm sorry! I got really pissed! I didn't mean to! Are you ok?" Eridan shouted frantically grabbing Sollux by the shoulders. "You just fucking stabbed me does it look like I'm fucking ok?!" Sollux shouted.

"But I didn't mean to!" Eridan shouted back. "Ok fine you didn't mean to. Are you just going to let me lie here and bleed out?" Sollux smirked. "Wwhat do I do?" Eridan jumped out of the bed starting to panic. Sollux sighed. "It doesn't matter anyways fish breath, you didn't stab me too bad." He grimaced and pulled the wand out of his stomach. "Cod Sol I am really sorry." Eridan said frowning. "Shut the fuck up. Didn't you want to be kismesis with me anyways? Way to just shove your feelings on me." Sollux laughed. "Wwell I did but I didn't mean to stab you…If I'm going to fight you I'm going to wwin fair and square." Eridan huffed. "Oh how honorable of you." Sollux smirked. "Wwhatevver Sol." Eridan said crossing his arms against his chest. "Well I'm going to go take care of this if you don't mind." Sollux said sarcastically as he slowly stood up. He kept his hand on his stomach to try to slow down the bleeding. "Do you need help?" Eridan asked seeming pretty concerned. Sollux smirked and flipped off Eridan and walked away.

Sollux would always have a scar from where Eridan had stabbed him and after Sollux had healed completely, Eridan confessed his black feelings for Sollux properly and Sollux grudgingly accepted. They did eventually find Feferi's lusus, remembering their 'mission' while Sollux was healing. They had to live together for a while when they were looking for Feferi's lusus and Eridan had to take care of Sollux every day. If anyone asked he would say that he had hated it but honestly he didn't particularly mind, in fact he kind of enjoyed it. The two of them would have many fights leaving many other scars and injuries on each other later on, but knowing that beneath the fighting there was an honest concern for each other. Almost as if they were friends. Sollux's favorite fight by far was the time when as punishment for breaking Sollux's favorite video game, Sollux made Eridan have sloppy make outs with him. Eridan was beyond confused and wouldn't even talk to Sollux for an entire week. It was peacefully quiet that week but ironically enough, Sollux found that he missed the stupid fish breathed asshole.
